First Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly Sited Today

Today, I saw the first tiger swallowtail butterfly for the season.  This is exciting.  Is true spring really here?  The temps were in the high 70s today, so maybe so.

We worked on a unique arbor design today, made out of rebar, crisscrossed to form various arcs.  This will be used to support the growth of three grape varieties.

It's an experiment in design, but it looks like it's going to work out.  Half inch rebar interwoven with three eighths inch rebar forms a nice strong structure.  A bit of a pain to figure out, but in the end, it will be unique.
